InterAction member Catholic Relief Services, after publicizing yesterday the government of Sudan’s efforts since January to block its aid programs in Darfur, has been allowed to resume its humanitarian work.

Since January, Sudan has accused CRS of distributing Bibles to its aid recipients, which is illegal in that Muslim area. However, the government was unable to produce any evidence. It then cited security concerns, though CRS had not heard of any threats.

Since the 2009 expulsion of 13 aid groups, CRS has expanded its operations to cover the resulting gap in humanitarian services.
