Haiti initiates Pilot Vaccine Program against Cholera
Haiti’s government and its partners launched a cholera vaccination campaign over the weekend with the goal of reaching 100,000 people, according to an article on AlertNet. Health workers are going door-to-door to deliver the vaccinations.
The pilot program currently targets two areas of the country, including a slum in Haiti’s capital and will be extended to other vulnerable communities.
According to AlertNet.org, more than 7,000 Haitians have died of cholera since an epidemic broke out in late 2010. For more information, read the full article on AlertNet.org.
