High-level panel meets for final time on post-2015
A high-level UN panel is in Bali this week meeting for the final time before submitting a key report on a post-2015 development framework to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.
The panel's report will outline the group's vision and priorities for a framework to replace the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) after 2015. It is due in May to the Secretary-General, who is expected to publish a response in July. He will then go on to present his vision for post-2015 to Member States in September at the General Assembly (see The Guardian post-2015 development timeline).
This is the third time the panel, made up of representatives from 27 countries, has met. The theme of the March 25-27 meeting is global partnership, and tax evasion by multinationals and corrupt leaders was expected to be a key issue.
The high-level panel previously met in London and Monrovia, Liberia. Liberia President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Britain Prime Minister David Cameron and Indonesia President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono serve as co-chairs on the panel.
