American Red Cross International Services's Response to Horn Of Africa Drought Crisis
The American Red Cross is helping people in the Horn of Africa affected by drought, committing $3.9 million in support of global Red Cross and Red Crescent activities. In Kenya and Ethiopia, the Kenyan Red Cross and Ethiopian Red Cross are providing host communities with food, water and livelihoods materials. In Somalia, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is working with the Somali Red Crescent Society to provide shelter and basic household items, health services via mobile clinics, therapeutic feeding activities for children and mothers, and seeds and tools to farmers to restart economic activity. The American Red Cross continues to work with our Red Cross partners to evaluate additional response options as needs arise.
