Catholic Relief Services's Response to Horn Of Africa Drought Crisis

Operational Summary:

CRS and its local partners have responded to the crisis in the Horn of Africa with a five year strategy, focused immediately on life-saving activities, including the provision of clean water and sanitation, food supplements, shelter and health services. Efforts will transition to sustainable livelihoods and disaster risk reduction assistance to help communities recover from the affects of the drought and mitigate the impact of similar crises in the future, through supporting livelihoods through cash-for-work, seeds and tools, and cash transfers; repairing, maintaining and establishing water points; and promoting strong hygiene practices. The response will reach over 500,000 severely affected people in Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya and Somalia.
