Direct Relief International's Response to Horn Of Africa Drought Crisis

Direct Relief provided a $25,000 cash grant to the Women and Health Alliance International (WAHA) to purchase the specialized medical tools and instrumentation needed to provide emergency obstetric care services in the delivery room at the Dadaab Hospital in Kenya and Hanano Hospital in Mogadishu. The grant will also enable these public hospitals to better serve as a referral centers for serious emergencies for people in the refugee camps.
 
Additionally, a forty foot ocean freight container of essential medications and supplies arrived into Kenya on March 26th to provide additional support for these facilities. This shipment is valued at $200,000 (wholesale) and contains a variety of specifically requested products.
