Handicap International's Response to Crisis in Ivory Coast and Liberia
Handicap International, present in Liberia for some 20 years, sent a team of emergency specialists on March 23 after confirming reports that refugees were fleeing the country. The team is identifying the needs of the most vulnerable persons among the refugee camps or among people scattered across host communities. The organization may also establish disability and vulnerability focal points for these vulnerable persons and take part in distribution activities. Depending on how the situation evolves, a second team of emergency and rehabilitation specialists will be sent to Abidjan to evaluate needs on the ground.
