International Orthodox Christian Charities's Response to Horn Of Africa Drought Crisis
Working with partners EOC-DICAC and IMC, IOCC responded to the Horn of Africa crisis with immediate support for nutrition, health and WASH programs at refugee camps located in Ethiopia. This included supplementary feeding programs in Melkadida camp, and a sanitation construction project in Kobe camp, home to 25,000 refugees. To offset the potential for the spread of disease in such a densely populated area, IOCC and relief partners have built more than 400 latrines with additional latrines under construction to meet the internationally accepted standard ratio of 20:1. IOCC also completed construction of a secondary school for the more than 500 teenaged refugees living in Bokolomayo camp.
