Oxfam America's Response to Crisis in Ivory Coast and Liberia

Operational Summary:

Oxfam has airlifted supplies, including water tanks, drilling equipment, and latrines, to help provide clean water and safe sanitation to the refugees along the Ivory Coast-Liberia border. Supplies for 70,000 people were transported overland to Nimba county and Grand Gedeh in the east of Liberia where camps are being prepared for an anticipated quarter of a million refugees. Oxfam has worked in Liberia for more than a decade and is gearing for the escalating humanitarian crisis, deploying humanitarian experts to the worst-affected area. The agency will provide seeds and agricultural support to families who have used their food stocks to support refugees and monitoring neighboring countries where hundreds of refugees have already fled.
