Relief International's Response to Horn Of Africa Drought Crisis
In 2006, Relief International began operations in Somalia, serving as an implementing partner to various humanitarian organizations. RI’s programming portfolio in Somalia is based on a commitment to address emergency needs while maintaining a focus on underlying issues to minimize displacement, build resilience, and mitigate the impacts of future shocks. The current programs include: Livestock for Life: Fighting Zoonoses; Expanded Participation in Basic Education; Nutrition and Primary Healthcare Services in Mudug Region; Sustainable WASH Disaster Mitigation; Emergency and Livelihood Support for the Central; and Fuel Efficient Stoves Project. In total, RI hopes to reach an expected 40,000 households and families.
