Operational Summary: 
In view of the unprecedented violence in southern Kyrgyzstan, ACTED has started an immediate response with the distribution of 1.600 tons of food aid to 40,000 individuals in Osh, with the support from the United Nations. The organization is also launching a multi-sectoral relief operation aimed at covering the most urgent needs of IDPs and refugees through the distribution of hygiene kits, non-food items, tents and emergency shelters, and the establishment of emergency water points. ACTED has been active in Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan since 1996. In Kyrgyzstan, the organization has a long term presence in Bichkek, Osh and Jalalabad.
