In response to the devastating 7.0 earth-quake that hit Haiti on January 12, 2010, USAID/OFDA selected CHF International to implement the “Community Livelihoods and Economic Assistance through Rubble Re-moval and Shelter” program. CLEARS is a $20.9 million, one-year USAID-funded initia-tive focused on creating an environment for economic and social recovery through the removal of rubble and debris, the provision of temporary employment opportunities for earthquake-affected populations, the con-struction of transitional shelters and the pro-vision of other shelter solutions for host and IDP families.
