The Global Food Security Act of 2009 (H.R. 3077) was introduced on June 26, 2009 by Representative Betty McCollum.  The Global Food Security Act calls for the creation of a comprehensive food security strategy, a White House Coordinator to develop and oversee the strategy and authorizes agricultural development measures critical to addressing long-term hunger.  The House version includes a greater focus on sustainability, natural resource management, the impact on cilmate change, and looking at the needs of women.
