After a brief hiatus due to the mid-term elections, the weekly update is back!
With the ranks of the 112th Congress now filled, there are likely to be a wide range of implications for international development assistance and humanitarian relief programs as many of the newly elected members are reading the elections as a mandate to cut spending. Despite some in Congress not believing in the science of climate change, there is no question that the political and fiscal environment has changed. InterAction’s Public Policy Committee continues to plan outreach and education for the new Congress- particularly the newly elected Republican members- to navigate what is likely to be a challenging second half of the Obama Administration.
