ISSUE
Evaluation is of increasing importance to both the international nongovernmental organization (INGO) community, donors and recipients. The need to measure and evaluate the impact of development interventions is critical in improving methods and informing donors of the results of programs. Central to this goal, is the sharing of resources and lessons learned in evaluation and monitoring among those in the community.
Numerous agencies working in the areas of disaster relief, refugee assistance and development now offer their evaluation resources, data and tools online. With so many valuable resources available, it becomes more important than ever that their potential is realized--whether in the planning stages of a project, engaging in a new development program, seeking partners in the development process or learning the best practices in evaluation and monitoring.
LATEST DEVELOPMENTS
InterAction and 3ie Partnership
InterAction and the International Initiative for Impact Evaluation (3ie) are pleased to announce a new partnership to help InterAction members understand and conduct impact evaluations and benefit - through better program design and policy arguments - from other impact evaluation findings.
We encourage you to participate in impact evaluation-related workshops at InterAction’s annual Forum this July. You may also wish to learn more about Impact Evaluation at the 3ie resources page, submit proposals for 3ie funding, and review presentations at the 'Perspectives on Impact Evaluation' Conference in Cairo.

In October 2008 and January 2009,
InterAction's Evaluation and Program Effectiveness working group brought
together program staff and experts to present and learn more on program evaluation
skills.
