As security and safety stories involving NGOs populate the news in greater frequency, the need for stronger safety and security management increases. Our world is a challenging one where NGO staff are required to work with limited protection, too often being the target for hostile attention. Many non-profits do not have the budgets for a dedicated security manager at either the home office, or in the field, and so the responsibility is distributed amongst existing staff. Unfortunately, these designated individuals are often not provided with the training or tools, nor have the experience to adequately avoid hazards, or respond to emergency situations.
Workshop outcomes:
This workshop is designed for those with security and safety responsibility but who have not received security management training. Participants will receive tools, resources, and practical advice in order to reduce individual and organizational risks.
