Gender equality is fundamental to development effectiveness, and investments in women and girls have proven successful toward reducing global poverty and improving the lives of the world’s poorest individuals, while investments in men and boys can help to advance gender equality and reduce violence against women. Since 1992, InterAction’s Commission on the Advancement of Women (CAW) has worked to give enhanced visibility and priority to gender equality in the policy and practice of InterAction members and other U.S. and international development and humanitarian assistance organizations. To achieve this, InterAction promotes gender equality through organizational transformation, foreign aid reform, resource sharing and skills building, and a global effort to create partnerships that achieve gender equality.
Gender Auditing and organizational strengthening helps members build organizational capacity for gender integration through individualized technical support and training at both headquarters and field locations.
Gendering of Foreign Assistance Reform task force (GOFAR) addresses gender issues in foreign aid reform.
The Gender Integration Working Group helps members build skills, share resources and develop new materials that highlight their organization’s gender integration efforts and projects.
The Women, Faith, and Development Alliance (WFDA) serves as a global network of uncommon partners who are committed to crossing boundaries to end poverty. See the WFDA Commitments Report 2010.
