Ten years ago, world leaders agreed upon a set of measurable goals to achieve poverty reduction. The targets addressed hunger, illiteracy, disease, gender equality and the empowerment of women, environmental sustainability and a global partnership for development.

The 2010 Media Summit focused on an exchange of innovative media/programmatic experiences and best practices relating to the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). What are the political and programmatic challenges facing the United Nations Millennium Development Goal Review Summit September 2010? Will the MDGs be met by 2015?

The Summit brought together a broad group of national and international journalists, media educators, development and humanitarian practitioners, donors and media decision makers.

Panels:

  • Emerging Issue Trends: Women, Children and Education
  • Conversation with UN Correspondents
  • Challenges and Solutions: A Focus on Global Health, Hunger and the Environment
The global economic crisis reversed many of the gains made in this area. Are countries, NGOs and donors intensifying efforts to compensate?
  • Shaping a New Architecture of Global Partnerships
Achieving the MDGs will require a framework that captures the collective actions of a broad group of stakeholders
