Population Communication
Statement of Purpose Population Communication conveys population messages to national leaders, and actively explores solutions to the population problem. Population Communication develops television and motion picture screenplays with family planning and population themes, informs doctors about the latest contraceptive techniques and obtains support for population stabilization policies from heads of government. Population Communication also develops child survival projects, studies the link between population and the environment, and promotes programs that improve the status of women. Population Communication supports immigration reform.

Programs & Activities
Population Stabilization
At present, 75 heads of government have signed the Population Communication Statement on Population Stabilization. Each year national leaders give specific recommendations on achieving the mandate of the statement.
Development Education
Population Communication uses publications and motion pictures to create awareness of environment, population and hunger problems, and to explore solutions to improving the status of women, providing comprehensive family planning programs.
Immigration Reform
Population Communication works to obtain support for immigration reform from religious leaders.
Population and Family Planning
Population Communication commissions books, reports and surveys which focus on the cultural, historical, political, economic, religious and social aspects of the population problem. Population Communication communicates information to national leaders and the public through radio, print media and direct mail. Population Communication contracts motion picture script writers to develop full-length theatrical release films with population and family planning themes for US and international markets. Population Communication disseminates information to doctors in 28 countries on surgical contraception.
Public Policy and Advocacy
Charts predicting population growth from 2000 to 2050 and checklists describing small family concepts are sent to cabinet members, governors and business leaders in the 10 largest countries. |
