Sell More For MoreTM is a facilitation approach that develops local institutions to deliver innovative management and technical training to farmer groups, associations and cooperatives. These farmer organizations form clear marketing plans and train their own members to meet rigorous buyer specifications. Sell More For MoreTMincorporates the M3 assessment tool, five Leadership Kits and STICKSTM for cascading agricultural skills. The Alliance to End Hunger

National Alliance Partnership Program 

The Alliance to End Hunger, through the National Alliance Partnership Program, is working with similar National Alliances in Ghana, Kenya and Uganda to help them build their organizational and financial capacity; diversify their coalitions, with particular emphasis on engaging farmers’ and producers’ organizations; and increase their capacity to engage in policy and advocacy at the national level. The goal of the National Alliance Partnership Program is to strengthen the ability of civil society to participate, in a sustainable way, in the development, implementation, and monitoring & evaluation of country-led agricultural development, food security and nutrition policies and activities.

Empowered Coffee Farmers Improve their Livelihoods through the Production and Direct Export of Specialty 

LWR supported its partner, Gumutindo Coffee Cooperative Enterprise, a Ugandan cooperative of more than 5,000 small-holder coffee farmers, with a two-pronged approach to capacity strengthening. Farmers received extension support that increased their ability to produce high quality and higher yields of coffee, resulting in a 60 percent increase in coffee production over three years. Simultaneously, LWR worked with Gumutindo to strengthen its financial management, human resources, and strategic planning. A stronger organization has since attracted outside investment and interest while increased sales allowed farmers to receive higher payments and enabled Gumutindo to invest in permanent technical staff and purchase processing equipment.

About the Best Practices and Innovations Initiative

The BPI Initiative was launched in September 2009 with the support of IFAD to promote information sharing on effective program approaches and improve practice standards. All submissions were reviewed by a selection committee of experts and evaluated according to six criteria: evidence of effectiveness/success, efficiency/cost-effectiveness, equitable outcomes for women and men, sustainability and replicability/adaptability.
