International News Reporting Media Summit

In response to the trend of media outlets shuttering foreign news bureaus and scaling back international news coverage, InterAction created the International News Reporting Media Summit in 2009 to illustrate the critical role the U.S. media plays in spreading the word about international development and humanitarian issues.

The summit brought together recognized journalists, media educators, senior-level communicators from the InterAction community, donors, news editors and publishers to talk about a variety of topics, including: the new generation of news reporting; how to optimally package story ideas for coverage; the Millennium Development Goals and other larger initiatives; and exploring a more balanced approach to covering news on the continent of Africa.

Progress Against Poverty Week

InterAction has worked annually in recent years to convey the progress its alliance has made toward ending global poverty with Progress Against Poverty Week. The week, leading up to the UN’s annual International Day for the Eradication of Poverty on October 17, has highlighted the anti-poverty work of member organizations on the InterAction website and with special events to educate and inform audiences about related U.S. foreign policy issues.
