The newest online tool from InterAction, NGO Aid Map, will launch on March 29, 2011. This online mapping initiative illustrates the global reach of the work of NGOs. NGO Aid Map will feature two mapping sub-sites, one focusing on Haiti and the other on food security. The Food Security Aid Map will also be launched on March 29. Haiti Aid Map -- http://haiti.ngoaidmap.org [1]– was unveiled in January.
InterAction developed NGO Aid Map as a tool to map out the work of its members. Through this platform, InterAction strives to increase transparency, facilitate partnerships and improve coordination. It is also aimed at helping NGOs and others involved in relief and development to make more informed decisions about where to direct resources.
Food Security Aid Map provides simple, fast and accurate project-level information about where InterAction members are working in the areas of food security and agriculture. A valuable coordination tool for NGOs, it will help with the allocation of resources and limit duplication of services. Current and potential donors, along with the public, are also able to track progress and determine where additional assistance is needed. Best practices in food security and agriculture will also be highlighted.
