- www.charityproducitons.us

Charity Productions has been providing community and professional services including public safety, gang and drug awareness workshops throughout Southeast Texas and southeast Louisiana since 1984. Currently we are working to launch an internet radio talk show along with a cable television show documentary on “Neighborhoods in Houston” in the fall of 2010.
Over the past 25 years Charles has guided Charity Productions and is career as a service provider into the main stream of service delivery for the general population of humanity with emphases on vulnerable populations at all ages. Charles services have been secured various institutions and agencies like the Houston Police, Health and Planning Departments, Beaumont and Port Arthur Police Departments as well as the Beaumont and Houston Independent School Districts.

While serving as the, emergency management consultant (school safety compliance) from 2003 – 2007 at Tekoa Academy in Port Arthur Texas, Charity Productions was selected to participate in a research project sponsored by FEMA with University of North Carolina and Texas A&M’s Hazard Reduction Center to improve and simplify effective communications between various ethnic groups in times of a disaster. For the past thirteen years Charity Productions has been leading the way in developing and neighborhood public safety and health initiative that augments city and county emergency service delivery system. Charles has secured over fifty certifications from the Emergency Management Institute/FEMA as well as being a certified contract housing inspector for FEMA after hurricane Ike. Charity Productions currently has a research MOU with Texas A&M’s Center for Housing and Urban Development.

In the area of academic contributions Charity Productions is currently working with the Texas Southern University’s Barbara Jordon Mickey Leland School of Public Affairs in the area of research and capacity building for the new four year degreed Emergency Management course scheduled to be offered in 2011. Charity Productions’ next collaboration is focused on the international community for the summer of 2010 with the Guatemala, Saint Maarten governments and in Haiti to partner with a non-profit group the Haitian American Ministries. Charles is working on a series short articles on the dangers and opportunities related to emergency management and vulnerable populations, “The Cycle of Vulnerabilities"

In the area of civic engagement perhaps one of Charles’ greatest contributions is the eight year old Quarterly Community Partnership Breakfast that boasts an average attendance of 600 people every ninety days from south and southeast Houston. The breakfasts began in October 2002, focusing on social, educational and political issues affecting neighborhoods across Houston. The breakfasts are built around 60 civic clubs and homeowner associations. This is the largest regularly non-church meeting in the state of Texas. In February 2010 the first northside quarterly  community partnership breakfast was initiated with an average attendance 200 people.

Working Groups are a central part of the way InterAction supports and aids its members. Working Groups are first and foremost a place for member agencies to share information that is important to them in several ways:

  • by providing a way for member organizations to share information about field-based issues, concerns, and topics;
  • by serving as a place for members to receive training and to share best practices with each other; and
  • by offering a space for members to develop new products and materials on a given topic.

Working Groups are member driven and supported by InterAction staff (with the exception of a few non-staffed working groups). Members identify an interest, issue area, or need around which they feel their collective voices will clarify or strengthen responses. Depending on the number of member organizations interested, a meeting or consultation is planned to explore the topic and allow members to share their issues and concerns. Such consultations or exploratory meetings may lead to the formation of an on-going Working Group.

InterAction's current working groups are described below. For more information on a specific working group, contact the group's staff contact.
