KENNETH R. OVERMAN
Biographical Profile
Ken was born and raised in Southern California. After high school, he spent three years in the Army during the Viet Nam era. He completed his military service in Europe where he met and married his wife. They decided to remain abroad to continue work and further their education.
Ken earned his BA from the American College of Greece where he developed an international ski tour business and was a charter boat skipper to help pay for tuition. Later, he leveraged his MBA from Regent University to establish a consulting business for emerging democracies in Eastern Europe. In all, he’s lived eighteen years in five European countries and went on to work and adventure in eighty more.
In the USA Ken worked as Vice President, Membership Development for BOMA International, a professional association based in Washington, DC. Later serving as Area Director, Ken expanded the CBN tri-state benevolence center in northern Virginia, leading a staff of 120 paid and volunteer workers in counseling and inner city relief efforts.
Ken went on to serve in the marine industry for thirteen years. Ten of those years were with the Luhrs Marine Group where he developed and managed dealer networks for all four of the Luhrs product lines in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asia/Pacific, Oceania and Latin America. For three years, he introduced and represented the Australian pleasure boat line, Mustang, in North and South America.
With the near collapse of the American marine industry, Ken parlayed his business acumen to develop a Yacht Transport division for a northeast Florida logistics company, which he continues to develop.
In 1991, he published Never Give Up: A 31-Day Career Search Advisor and continued to write newsletters and numerous marketing and development papers for international business while lecturing and teaching on the entrepreneurial process.
Ken wrote two more books of the creative nonfiction genre; Never The Stranger and A Stranger No More. He is working on a fourth book of the self-help genre which addresses “maximized lifestyle”, targeted for early 2011.
Ken lives in Northeast Florida with his wife. Their daughter, Lisa, serves with the US Foreign service in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Working Groups are a central part of the way InterAction supports and aids its members. Working Groups are first and foremost a place for member agencies to share information that is important to them in several ways:
- by providing a way for member organizations to share information about field-based issues, concerns, and topics;
- by serving as a place for members to receive training and to share best practices with each other; and
- by offering a space for members to develop new products and materials on a given topic.
Working Groups are member driven and supported by InterAction staff (with the exception of a few non-staffed working groups). Members identify an interest, issue area, or need around which they feel their collective voices will clarify or strengthen responses. Depending on the number of member organizations interested, a meeting or consultation is planned to explore the topic and allow members to share their issues and concerns. Such consultations or exploratory meetings may lead to the formation of an on-going Working Group.
InterAction's current working groups are described below. For more information on a specific working group, contact the group's staff contact.
