USAID

InterAction and its member organizations collaborate with, and support the work of, the U.S. government’s lead humanitarian and international development organization, U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). When a disaster strikes, InterAction members working in the affected area assist with distributing supplies donated by USAID to the population impacted by the crisis. As a new U.S. international development or humanitarian policy is in the process of being developed, USAID consults with the InterAction coalition to ensure the policy will reach the widest possible audience. After years of neglect and underfunding, the InterAction coalition has taken a public stance with U.S. foreign policy decision makers about the need to reinvigorate the agency so that it can join diplomacy and defense as the critical third leg – development – of our foreign policy stool.
