Basile Pissalidis
Basile Pissalidis became the InterAction Security Director in June 2011 and heads InterAction’s Security Unit (SU). He is responsible for supporting and strengthening the security community and its ability to protect staff in the field. In this capacity he works closely with Interaction’s Security Advisory Group. The Security Advisory Group was originally established in late 1980s and has been supported by InterAction since. Currently, the Security Director and InterAction’s SU supports several initiatives including an outreach program to help NGOs establish a security framework and supporting the UN-NGO Saving Lives Together initiative.
Basile Pissalidis came to InterAction from the American Red Cross where he served as that organization’s Senior Security Advisor. Previously, he worked in Afghanistan with CRS and IRC and a private security company. He has worked in several countries including Bosnia, Pakistan, Indonesia, and Haiti among others. He worked for UNICEF, UNHCR, UNIDO, OSCE prior to joining the NGO community.
