InterAction is the nation’s leading policy advocate for international humanitarian relief and development programs. Using the collective voice of our more than 180 non-governmental organization (NGO) members, InterAction shapes important U.S. and international policy decisions on relief and long-term development issues. These issues include foreign assistance, global health, food security, nutrition, water, climate change and education.

InterAction leads, supports and mobilizes its members to take collective action, improve the impact of their programs, increase their global reach and advocate for efforts that advance human well-being around the world.
The U.S. food aid program known as Food for Peace Title II is critical in the global fight against hunger. InterAction and its members – many of whom implement food aid programs – are pushing for reforms to the program in order to help more people suffering from hunger and malnutrition. InterAction regularly convenes the NGO community on this issue and leads strategic advocacy and education on food aid reform aimed at Congress and the Administration.

Our global partnerships enable InterAction to take a lead role in shaping the broader international development and humanitarian debate. InterAction facilitates and coordinates the G7/G20 Advocacy Alliance of U.S. NGOs. There is both Alliance and individual NGO advocacy on the agenda of annual G7 and G20 summits. InterAction hosts a number of related online resources in advance of each summit, inlcuding calendars and policy reccomendations.
InterAction’s Foreign Assistance Briefing Book, published at the beginning of every new Congress, reflects our community’s wealth of experience and best thinking on the issues and key areas affecting international relief and development.
