What is World Humanitarian Day?
World Humanitarian Day (WHD) is a celebration of people helping people. Every day humanitarian aid workers from within the InterAction community help countless people around the world.
The day recognizes the sacrifices and contributions of those who risk their lives to give others help and hope. It is also about inspiring the spirit of aid work in everyone.
This special webpage features program highlights from InterAction member organizations, stories from the field, information and resources from the UN, and a special call to action – contacting members of Congress to push for sustained funding of U.S. foreign assistance programs in the 2012 federal budget.
- See the special InterAction members page to learn how they are commemorating World Humanitarian Day.
- Visit the resources page and read what the UN and other organizations are doing to mark the day.
- Join InterAction's call to action and ask your member of Congress not to cut to foreign assistance funding.
