InterAction CEO to Discuss Humanitarian Assistance across Africa in Address to UN General Assembly

On Friday, April 8, InterAction CEO Sam Worthington will speak at the first panel of an informal meeting of the United Nations General Assembly. The three-hour session will examine the challenges of meeting the immediate humanitarian needs of refugees and building resilience and food security in Africa.

During the first panel— "Humanitarian Response in Africa: The Urgency to Act" —Worthington will address the unprecedented challenges that NGOs, humanitarian actors, and UN agencies now face when providing immediate humanitarian assistance across Africa. He will also reaffirm InterAction and its members’ commitment to improving the capacity of local NGOs and civil society organizations, and touch on the vital need for further creation and protection of civil society space worldwide.
