International Orthodox Christian Charities's Response to Hurricane Matthew Crisis

Operational Summary:

International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC) is responding to the crisis in Haiti with an emergency distribution of food for vulnerable families. IOCC, an ACT Alliance member, is working with relief partners on the ground to support the distribution of food parcels that will feed more than 1,500 children, women and men for the next week. There is also concern over the long-term impact of Hurricane Matthew’s destruction of the fall harvest. The need to feed vulnerable families for the next three to four months is critical to their well-being while farmland is cleared and crops are replanted and harvested.

Health is also a particular concern, as Haiti has been experiencing a spike in cholera cases recently which will only be exacerbated by the impacts of the hurricane. The Haitian government and the international aid community are working now to fully assess the impact.

Your gift to the Hurricane Matthew Emergency Response Fund helps us react quickly and respond effectively when emergencies strike. Your help will provide immediate relief such as emergency aid and recovery assistance, as well as long-term support to help those in need.
