Planet Aid's Response to The Ebola Crisis

Operational Summary:

Planet Aid together with its in-country partner ADPP Guinea-Bissau are launching an Ebola preparedness and sensitization initiative in Guinea-Bissau to prepare the population for an outbreak. The World Health Organization has classified Guinea-Bissau as a high-risk country because of its borders with the nation of Guinea and the depths of its poverty.  ADPP and Planet Aid are relying on their rural networks, trained staff, and cadre of volunteers to inform and mobilize the population to reduce the risk of transmission and what to do should an outbreak occur.  The campaign is organizing community events in rural villages to facillitate open discussions to dispell suspicion and fear.  Behaviors to reduce infection are being carefully explained in the context of traditional burial and other practices.
