Save the Children's Response to Hurricane Matthew Crisis

Operational Summary: 

Save the Children has worked in Haiti for more than 40 years and currently supports 131 schools, including 27 in Sud and Grand'Anse, areas hard hit by Hurricane Mathew. Our emergency response team, including experienced health professionals, are focusing on:

  • Helping manage cholera outbreaks and providing basic health services,

  • Setting up "child-friendly spaces" for children unable to go to school and helping provide alternative education options while schools are rebuilt, and

  • Providing emergency relief items including hygiene kits, baby items, household kits, mosquito nets and jerry cans.
