Innovative Finance for Development: A Guide for International NGOs

Approaches to financing for international development have been changing rapidly. NGOs are thinking beyond aid to private finance and new forms of development cooperation. Over the last decade, innovative finance for international development and humanitarian programs (IF4D) has expanded, and more and more NGOs are making the strategic decision, or contemplating the decision, to adopt innovative finance as part of their business plans.

To increase the information available to NGOs and to help inform their decision-making about these new financing approaches, InterAction recently published a practitioner-oriented report that explains key IF4D instruments and how they have been, or can be, used. It is intended for a broad audience but highlights the role of NGOs in implementing IF4D instruments to tackle social and environmental problems.
