Le Soir (France): Debt is the star in Cannes

Sam Worthington quoted in article.

The G20 summit opened yesterday in Cannes, France.  Twenty heads of state and government are taking part in this meeting that finishes on Friday.  But in the current context, the heads of the 20 most industrialized countries in the world are much more preoccupied by the Euro zone crisis than by global hunger. “The task of the G20 will be to resolve the Euro crisis,” declared American president Barak Obama when he arrived in Cannes.

Several NGOs have sounded the alarm for the G20 to reclaim a more equitable style of global governance.  “We must not sacrifice development.  Solutions for Greece cannot be made on the backs of the world’s poor,” declared Samuel Worthington, president of InterAction an American NGO.
