Foreign Assistance Briefing Book 2013

FABB coverInterAction is pleased to release its third Foreign Assistance Briefing Book (FABB). The book represents the U.S.-based international nonprofit community’s best thinking on a range of pressing foreign assistance challenges. Organized into one-pagers by issue area, it is intended to serve as a resource on important international development and humanitarian issues for the Obama administration and the 113th Congress, which welcomes many new faces this January.

Nineteen key areas and sectors are featured in the book, with specific problems and policy recommendations highlighted. All of the information is drawn from InterAction's 200-plus member organizations, a diverse group of both faith-based and secular organizations with decades of experience working on the ground internationally and with strong support from the American people.

Development and humanitarian assistance advances U.S. values and interests, and a solid portion of the U.S. public supports sustainable development and poverty reduction. (About 66 percent of Americans, for example, think current U.S. spending on global health is "too little" or "about right," according to a recent poll by the Kaiser Family Foundation.) While important gains have been made in reducing hunger and poverty worldwide, much more remains to be done. InterAction hopes this book contributes to that important effort.
