Event Description: 

This workshop presents the basics of humanitarian Shelter & Settlements (S&S) sector activities, including history and trends, the importance of context, best practices in assessment and programming strategy, basic shelter responses, the linkage and interplay of shelter, settlements, and recovery with other sectors, the critical importance of Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) in informing S&S activities, and how to reconceive the recovery of affected settlements. This workshop is founded upon years of experience, thus discussions & examples will be based on real-life situations. Discussions are non-technical and geared towards strategies to deliver humanitarian S&S assistance. Registration: This course is offered free of charge.
