Policy & Advocacy: Overview

Policy & Advocacy

InterAction's Global Development Policy and Learning team (GDPL) advocates for the policy priorities of InterAction and its members, primarily with the Congress and the executive branch of the U.S. government, but also with partners, think tanks, and the private sector. The GDPL team helps to coordinate the policy positions of members, as well as the community’s outreach efforts, in order to maximize the effectiveness of NGOs in influencing the U.S. government’s policy decisions and budget priorities. The team advocates for funding of poverty-focused development programs and humanitarian relief, while also engaging on issues like foreign assistance reform; democracy, rights, and governance; global health; food security and nutrition; water and sanitation; and humanitarian access. GDPL reaches target audiences through a variety of advocacy and communications strategies to position InterAction as the expert source on development and relief issues.
