Lindsay Hamsik

Senior Manager, Policy and Practice

Lindsay Hamsik joined InterAction as a Senior Manager for Humanitarian Policy in March 2017. She has more than 10 years of experience designing programs, implementing and supporting teams delivering emergency assistance, and humanitarian coordination.

Lindsay represents the NGO community in international humanitarian forums including within the Grand Bargain Facilitation Group and other multi-lateral humanitarian policy processes organized by United Nations agencies and donor governments. Lindsay also leads InterAction’s ongoing work on NGO risk management in humanitarian settings.

Lindsay has worked in humanitarian responses in Indonesia, Somalia, and South Sudan. Prior to joining InterAction, Lindsay worked for the South Sudan NGO Forum, where she supported interagency humanitarian coordination efforts and oversaw humanitarian analysis and collective NGO engagement on a variety of topic areas including organizational risk management, safety and security, humanitarian access and negotiations, and NGO preparedness and contingency planning. Lindsay also worked for Mercy Corps for several years, where she supported research, policy, and programming for education, food security and livelihoods, and market-based approaches to humanitarian delivery.

Lindsay is from Seattle. She holds M.A.s in International Relations and International Communications from Boston University, a Certificate in African Studies from Boston University, and a B.A. in Journalism from Western Washington University. In her free time, Lindsay enjoys a regular yoga practice, playing the piano, and seeing live music whenever she can.
