Reflections from UNLEASH LAB 2017

1,000 talents, 129 countries, nine days, one challenge: to create something that helps achieve the SDGs. For my group, that was SDG 7: Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy for all. So much of this process seems daunting. 1,000 people?! What are we going to create? How will it be for strangers from different countries and cultures to work together? How can I even begin to make a difference toward achieving access to energy for all in just 5 days?

UNLEASH the Power of Data

The power of data is endless. We use Fitbits to collect data about our activity level, sleep cycles, and diet to try and live healthier lives. Our personal data is used by companies to track spending habits and preferences to tailor advertisements perfectly to you. (How did they know I wanted that cat-carrying backpack!?) Data can also be used to track our progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

What Happens to My Data After I Add it to NGO Aid Map?

What happens to your data once you've added it to the map? You know that all active project data is populated onto ngoaidmap.org. But what you might not be aware of is that other sources gather and use the data you provide as well. We proactively seek out those who need data on NGO activities and ensure that our data is open and available to them.
