“The administration’s request to rescind over $8.3 billion in foreign assistance funds previously appropriated by Congress represents a profound departure from America's longstanding bipartisan commitment to global leadership. The administration claims these cuts only target wasteful spending and yet provide examples totaling less than 1% of its proposed cuts."
Giving new executive branch authority to strip the tax-exempt status of nonprofits creates a framework in which any administration, Democrat or Republican, can systematically dismantle legitimate nonprofit work with little more than false accusations as justification.
“This represents a stark retreat from America’s longstanding commitment to easing suffering, saving lives, and helping communities build their own path to prosperity,” said Tom Hart, President and CEO of InterAction.
“As the war in Sudan between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and Rapid Support Forces (RSF) enters a third year of fighting today, InterAction deplores the ongoing conflict which has resulted in more than 150,000 deaths and some 30 million civilians in dire humanitarian need."
“This sudden withdrawal of vital humanitarian support will have devastating consequences for millions of people,” said Tom Hart, President and CEO of InterAction.
