Our Members’ Response to the Ebola Outbreak in DRC and Beyond

U.S.-based international nonprofits are playing a central role in responding to a growing Ebola outbreak in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo and neighboring countries, where conflict, displacement, food insecurity, and weak health systems are intensifying the crisis and complicating containment of a rare strain with no approved vaccine. InterAction members are working closely with governments, the U.S., and UN partners to deliver coordinated support—ranging from community awareness and surveillance to contact tracing, infection prevention, and distribution of medical supplies—while also strengthening health systems, expanding WASH services, and providing protection and psychosocial support to vulnerable populations across DRC, Uganda, and the region
