Christine Knudsen

Christine Knudsen joined InterAction in January 2024 and serves as Vice President of Humanitarian Response. In this role, she works with Members and stakeholders to shape policy positions, advance advocacy efforts and represent InterAction in key global humanitarian forums. She is committed to working with InterAction's diverse membership to support learning, strengthen policy development and advance a more effective international humanitarian system.

With more than 20 years of humanitarian experience spanning the NGO community and the U.N. system, Christine has focused extensively on coordination, policy and principled partnership. She served as Executive Director of Sphere during the 2018 revision process and most recently as Emergency Director for U.N. Habitat in Nairobi. Previously, she held roles with UNICEF, leading work on humanitarian partnerships, and with OCHA, focusing on protection and coordination. Earlier in her career, she worked closely with InterAction as co-chair of the Protection Working Group while serving as a senior child protection officer with Save the Children. She has also served in field assignments with UNHCR and Catholic Relief Services and has been deployed globally throughout her career.

Christine holds a Master of Arts in International Relations from Johns Hopkins University's School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS).
