CBS News: What Rubio told U.S. diplomats about the future of foreign aid, as most programs paused
Tom Hart, the CEO of InterAction, an alliance of 170 NGOs, says many of those groups now face bankruptcy because they cannot access credit or U.S. financing because USAID systems were taken down. About 40% of InterAction's members receive USAID funding.
“‘While the policy is in place through Secretary Rubio's order, and even paperwork has been delivered to some of our partner NGOs, they've not been able to get the assistance, the money, to continue operations,’ Hart said. ‘So, we have the policy, we have the paperwork, we just don't have the funding flowing to keep that emergency relief going.’
