InterAction Welcomes Three New Board Members
At InterAction’s Annual Membership Meeting on June 17, we said goodbye and thank you to three departing members of our Board.
We extend a sincere thanks to Mohammed Hassan, Carol Jenkins, and Tessie San Martin for their unwavering belief in and support to InterAction’s mission. We’re deeply grateful for their service to our organization and the sector, which will be felt for years to come.
Although we bid farewell to these incredible leaders, we are excited to announce three new members to InterAction’s Board of Directors. Confirmed with overwhelming support at the Annual Membership Meeting, these voices will help ensure that InterAction evolves to meet the needs of Member organizations during these changing times.
We extend a warm welcome to:
- Michael Court, Global Support and Development
- Shanna Marzilli, Plan International USA
- Daniel Valle, Tearfund USA

Their Motivations
Our new Board Members shared some of their motivations for joining InterAction at such a critical period for foreign assistance. We look forward to their contributions.
Michael Court, Global Support and Development:
“A strong InterAction supports a strong community of organizations, elevating voices, providing solidarity, and an environment to learn from each other. I’m keen to contribute to a healthy and strong InterAction through support to the Board.”
Shanna Marzilli, Plan International USA:
“I believe InterAction plays an important role in the international development and humanitarian assistance sector through its membership. The diversity of organizations—size, focus, geographies served, religious and non-religious—not only ensures that Members are exposed to diverse viewpoints, but that our advocacy and policy work is informed by a variety of perspectives. InterAction will play an important role in shaping the next iteration of U.S. foreign assistance and I am looking forward to being a part of how InterAction responds strategically in this moment.”
Daniel Valle, Tearfund USA:
“Not all of InterAction membership is large, household names; many of the teams we lead, like my own, are smaller and less-well known. However, size can be a misleading indicator of potential value. Voices must be valued from many parts of our membership’s spectrum (secular, faith-based, liberal, conservative, etc.). We must demonstrate to our critics, and those not yet familiar with our work, that we represent all Americans in our desire for improvement in the lives of those we seek to serve. I believe my skills and experience in field and headquarter roles with varied types of NGOs may be of use in my new Board duties. I am thankful for the opportunity to serve.”
