MEMBERS ONLY: Listening Session on Disability Inclusion in the NGO Sector

InterAction is hosting its next DEI listening session—coinciding with the U.N. Day of Persons with Disabilities (Dec. 3)—to discuss the importance of disability inclusion in international development and humanitarian work.

Moderator: Sam Worthington, CEO, InterAction

Panelists:

  • Habtamu Buli, Technical Officer, Disability Inclusion, FHI 360
  • Jahan Ara Begum Hena, President, Women with Disability Development Association, Bangladesh
  • Susan Sygall, CEO, Mobility International USA

Panelists will also share their lived experiences as people with disabilities working in the NGO sector. Participants will walk away with an understanding of the layered challenges of aid access to differently-abled communities; the lack of services for these communities, both operationally and programmatically; and a call to commit to the necessary changes to have more persons with disabilities lead and contribute to the sector.InterAction convenes this timely session to both celebrate the U.N. Day of Persons with Disabilities and to acknowledge the access and equity issues for this community within the sector. As a virtual listening-only session, attendees are invited to hear directly from the panelists' lived and professional experiences with disability inclusion.

Please RSVP HERE by Wednesday, December 1, 2021; Zoom link to be sent in advance.
