Kelsey Maddox

Coordinator, Democracy, Rights, and Governance

Kelsey Maddox joined InterAction as a Program Associate for the Global Development, Policy, and Learning Team in September 2021. Kelsey’s role is central to stakeholder convening and coalition learning by identifying emerging issue areas, documenting existing practices and needs, and responding with tools, research, training, or other solutions. Now as a coordinator, she supports advocacy and education outreach efforts for InterAction’s Democracy, Rights, and Governance Initiative.

Passionate about mitigating human rights violations, Kelsey has an interest in further exploring and advocating for legislation and policies that protect vulnerable populations affected by international conflict. Prior to joining InterAction, Kelsey interned at the Alliance for Peacebuilding where she supported the Policy and Advocacy team advocate for U.S. Peacebuilding initiatives and programs that addressed conflict dynamics such as countering violent extremism, racial inequality, and distrust in institutions.

Kelsey graduated from the School of International Service at American University and received an M.A. in International Affairs in the Ethics, Peace, and Human Rights program. She also holds a B.A. in Global Studies from Loyola University Maryland. In her free time, she enjoys reading, playing with her pandemic puppy, and trying out new restaurants in the DMV area.
