Tosca Bruno-van Vijfeijken

Tosca Bruno-van Vijfeijken has worked on international development and civil society issues for 30 years, in practice, in academia, and as an independent consultant. Her fellowship focuses on next-generation norms for the NGO sector.

Before launching her consulting practice, Five Oaks Consulting, in January 2019, Tosca was the Director of the Transnational NGO Initiative at the Moynihan Institute of Global Affairs at Syracuse University (SU). She occasionally continues to provide support to the Initiative as honorary Moynihan Research Fellow at SU. Tosca also served as board member of InterAction, Public Interest Registry, and ProLiteracy.  Tosca is a ‘Leap of Reason Ambassador’, an invitation-based collective of nonprofit leaders and analysts with a mission to promote the outcome orientation of NGOs.

She currently is one of InterAction’s Fellows, undertaking research on norm shifts in the INGO sector. As Principal Consultant at Five Oaks Consulting, Tosca offers value to senior leaders in INGOs on change management, leadership development and coaching, organizational culture, evaluation, diversity and inclusion, gender and leadership as well as feminist leadership practices, and virtual team leadership. Earlier, Tosca worked at the European Center for Development Policy Management in the Netherlands, and in Cambodia for the UNTAC peacekeeping operation, UNDP as well as the U.S. INGO PACT. Tosca also served at the World Bank in Washington D.C., and in Vietnam for six years.
