Deborah Willig

Director, NGO Futures

Deborah Willig joined InterAction as Director of Communications and Outreach in June of 2014 and transitioned to Director of NGO Futures in September of 2016. Deborah has over twenty years of experience advancing mission-driven organizations and people through greater understanding and growth.

Prior to joining InterAction in June of 2014, Deborah advised FedEx for eight years on public affairs and issues management communications at their global headquarters in Memphis, Tennessee, and their Washington, D.C., office. While at FedEx Deborah built the winning business case for a common corporate responsibility strategy; oversaw a cross-functional, global team to develop the annual corporate responsibility report; and co-led the issues management practice. Deborah started her career supporting a member of the United States Congress, where she managed her member’s committee-level work on Foreign Operations funding. In the early 2000s, Deborah was a congressional liaison for the Export-Import Bank of the United States in Washington, D.C., where she developed and implemented congressional education campaigns and counseled the Bank’s leadership regarding U.S. Congress and emerging issues.

Deborah is from upstate New York. She holds a B.A. in Political Science and International Economics from Vassar College, and an M.A. in International Relations with a focus on business management from the University of California San Diego. In her free time, Deborah leverages her certified coach and facilitator background to coach individuals and facilitates group workshops on personal leadership. She is passionate about authentic community and holistic wellness.
